What makes a great music video?
Cinematography
Having good cinematography makes a great music video as it can show off the imagery and give it justice if done correctly.
Nobody wants to watch a blurry or poorly filmed music video.
Editing
Editing can make or break a music video. Whether it's special effects or cutting from scene to scene, editing can improve the music video.
If you edit too much special effects (example: too many scribbled lines) or don't line up the audio to the video, the lip syncing won't match and be hard to watch

In this video we have Jordan Orme and Josh Olufemii reacting and reviewing Agust D - 대취타 (Daechwita) They discuss many shots and explains in detail on what they are seeing and how effective the cinematography, editing and lighting is, along with some critics and interpretations of the narrative. They give an unbiased opinion and have done some research on what 대취타 (Daechwita) means and it's significance in the meaning of the song and music video
Jordan Orme has some other good reactions/reviews on his channel, along with videos of him breaking down how he edited his music videos. (example: Intentions by Justin Bieber)

Narrative
Music videos with a story behind them can inspire someone to take action in their own life if the video and song relates to them. If the story isn't edited in order or is messy, it makes it hard to follow and will confuse the audience. (This is why editing is also very important)

In this video, Josh Olufemii discusses what makes K-pop music videos stand out compared the western music videos. He uses Whistle by Blackpink as an example through out the whole video to show what a lot of K-pop MV directors use to make them so effective. He discusses how simple western music videos are compared to a K-pop video (1:54 of the video)
He goes into depth as to how they achieve this. It's given me some inspiration and what to look out for when making a music video.
Josh Oulfemii has some great music video tips and tutorials on his channel that are very helpful.

In this video, Paul Leach gives some good input and opinions as a film director for ON by BTS. He explains what shots went well and what shots and angles would be more effective.

I also liked this video where she analyses some BTS music videos and talks about colour grading.
