Nasal bones and underlying cartilage are susceptible for fracture because of their more prominent and central position in the face.

In lateral trauma, the nose is displaced away from midline on the side of the injury.

Nursing management
Position the patient in semi-Fowler's position to facilitate respiration, and control epistaxis.
Educate the patient and family about the significance of changes in nasal or sputum characteristics.
Assess respiratory rate, deapth, rhythm, and breath sounds every 4 hours
