It refered to the different life situation's between upper classes and poor
The upper classes respected a strict moral behaviour, the idea of prudshiness was spread
Their behaviour had to be perfect especially in sexual matters
The women had to be covered and confinated in their houses
The role of woman was
underrated
Some of them succeded in react and became important in society as nurse or doctor
The first nurse: Florence Nightingale
The poor lived in very unhealthly bad conditions
Very often the woman became prostitute
Hypocrisy
The different life situation's of women stressed and testimonated the double face of the rich people
On one hand they respected a strict behaviour of prudshiness
On the other hand they didn't care about the poor
It was testimonated by writers, painters, journalists...
Utilitarism
This philosophy was spread in this period
It was spread on the concept that everything had to be classidicated as how much it give us happiness
Material happiness
One of the most important philosopher was Jeremy Bentham
The decline of Victorian values
With the compromise and the spread of other ideas, the Victorian values declined
Karl Marx(with The Comunist Manifesto) influenced the socialists
Charles Darwin upset everyone with his Origin of the Species
In the nineties it was developed a sense of disappointment
