        From 2000 to date, 135 murders of journalists have been documented in Mexico, according to Article 19.
        
        The disappearance of structures dedicated to the protection of journalists could put many of them at risk in one of the deadliest countries in which to practice their profession, warned the association Reporteros Sin Fronteras.
        
        Currently, the protection mechanism has 1,304 beneficiaries, including 418 journalists (111 women and 307 men) and 886 human rights defenders (471 women and 415 men).
