What Are Green Jobs?
green jobs originally referred to jobs related to the maintenance of the environment but over time this concept changed to encompass part of the economy
The Second Wave: Regulation
Environmentalists noted that conserving the areas alone was not enough to maintain a healthy environment and demanded the government through protests to create strict regulations for the control of waste and various practices that polluted not only the area of use, but also many others, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) was created
The First Wave: Conservation
the high demand of outdoor activities caused small changes that made notice the great benefit that was having these areas so the government decided to focus and invest in these green areas, creating projects that protect and benefit not only workers but other economic areas
The Third Wave: Equity and Investment
this third wave is born from the lack of concepts in the two previous waves, where the environmentalists noticed that it is not only about conservation and regulation, but to have an economy that allows the equity of gender, race and class and fundamentally this wave explains that we should all have the right to a healthy environment in spite of all the different conditions, creating the Eco-equity
How Are Green Jobs Currently Defined, and How Many Are There?
green jobs have been the subject of research, however these investigations in many cases have not been successful due to various factors, such as cancellation.
It is important to know that green jobs are those provided by a company that gives goods that benefit the environment or are those that respect it, these jobs are classified into three categories renewable energy, energy efficiency and environmental management
Redefining Green Jobs
for a Sustainable Economy
ecologically sustainable jobs must be developed that include terms that are not covered in the initial definition because a green job means not only being in the ecological area of conservation and regulation but also being present in sectors that are sustainable with the environment, improving governance, culture and well-being in current as well as future generations
What’s a Sustainable Economy?
sustainable ecology is a fundamental part, this speaks specifically as the multidimensionality that encompasses the economy is related to four sectors: economy, ecology, politics and culture seeking the goal of social and environmental sustainability to not affect future generations but only their benefit
Two Areas Where the Standard Definition of Green Jobs Requires Expansion
It is necessary to invest in the human capacity to form new generations to maintain the good ecological changes made in our society, as well as to invest and consider green work for health professionals and child workers. All this will allow us to have a sustainable future and above all they are the ones who help the development of a healthy community.
