      - Most highlighted demand, removal of Salt Act
        
        If Salt Act was not removed by 11th March, Gandhi would start protesting
        
        The British East Indies Company had deemed production of salt illegal for Indians
        
        Taxation increased, making it more expensive
        
        Lower class would not be able to afford mineral on daily basis
    - - Gandhi gave him 1 more day (until 12th March)
    - - 78 males of the ashram in Sabarmati walked through several villages in Gujarat
      - Followers listened to Gandhi’s most cherished bhajan
      - The roads were watered and vegetation was thrown all along the path
      - Reached Dandi on the 5th of April after walking 240 miles and surpassing 22 villages
      - On 6th of April, they picked up salt along the shore, thus breaking law
      - Protests continued for next 2 months

      - Media in the western world had caught the attention of the march
      - Lord Irwin was eager to end civil disobedience after the media
      - Both leaders came to a mutual agreement
        
        Gandhi Ji would stop the movement
        
        Lord Irwin allowed making salt for domestic use and agreed to release all the imprisoned Indians

      - 2500 non-violent marchers were beaten by the police

      - Protests started diffusing all over the country as people realized that they had the power
      - This paved way to India's independence movement protests
    - - Inspired so many other individuals across the world to adopt nonviolence as their own philosophy

        Before non-violence, everything was about war and conflict
        
        Gandhi proved that non-violence was better than violence
        
        People realised Satyagraha was a win-win method of bringing change
- - - - At the beginning of the Salt March, Gandhi did not allow women to take part in the march.
      - This made several women activists extremely angry as they thought Gandhi was calling them weak
        
        Sarojini Naidu and Mithuben Petit then started revolting and set up a meeting with Gandhi where he finally allowed women to join the Salt March
    - - The Indian's believed that the Salt Act was extremely unfair and unjust which is why they believed the Salt March was a great idea as they were extremely tired of the British rule and wanted freedom from them
      - Because the Indian's respect Gandhi's idea so much, they even started calling him 'Mahatma' which means great soul
