The interview and interview types
Structure Interview

This data collection tool is typically used during face-to-face interviews in order to accurately capture questions and responses.
Questions are usually very specific. This type of questions are often called closed, closed-ended, pre-coded, or fixed choice.

Advantage
Closed questions
Facilitate the processing of data. The answers need to be sifted and coded in order for the data to be analyzed quantitatively.

Types of interview
Group interview:
The interview is designed to determine the responses of the participants exposed to a situation previously analyzed

Oral history interview:
Unstructured or semi-structured interview in which the respondent is asked to recall events from his or her past and to reflect on them.
Focused interview
Open questions to ask interviewers questions about a specific situation or event that is relevant to them and of interest to the researcher.
In-depth interview
Individual interviews with a small number of respondents to explore their perspectives on a particular idea, program, or situation.
Intensive interview
Allow the observer to register not verbal responses obtained of opinions, values, motivations, recollections, experiences, and feelings from the participants

Unstructured interview:
The interviewer asks open-ended questions based on a specific research topic. The interviewer modifies the questions to adapt them to the specific experiences of the participant.
Personal documents
Diaries, letters, and autobiographies
The researcher-driven diary has been used as a method of data collection in both quantitative and qualitative research.
Letters, diaries, and autobiographies can be the primary source of data such as life history or life story interviews.
Visual objects
Many photographs are taken as a record of ceremonial occasions, recurring events such as Christmas, annual holidays, etc.
