Definition
: Motivation is the process that initiates, guides, and mantains goal-oriented behaviors.
Also referred as the reason why a person does something.
What does it involve?
It involves the biological, emotional, cognitive and social forces that make our behavior.
Factors that direct the goal-directed actions.
Types of Motivation
Extrinsic Motivation:
-Arise from outside the individual. Involves several rewards like money and throphies.
Intrinsic Motivation:
-Arise from the individual itself. Like making a puzzle because he/she likes it and gratifies it.
What is it used for?
-Help improve people's efficiency as they work for their goals.
-Help people take actions.
-Help people feel they have more control in their lives.
-Improves people's overall well-being and happiness.
-Helps avoid unhealthy behaviors like addiction.
What is it's impact?
Activation
The decison to intiate a behavior.
Persistence
Continued effort to achieve a goal, even though there are obstacles.
Intensity:
The concentration and/or vigor of pursuing a goal.
Tips for a higher Motivation
-Improve your confidence. -Change you goals to things that are important for you.
-Things that are to big or overwhelming, break them down into smaller steps. -Try improving your insecurities
-Remind youself about your past achievements and which are your strenghs.
