To what extent did economic factors contribute to the emergence of two authoritarian states, each from a different region?
THESIS
Economic factors were an extremely important aspect of the emergence of Hitler and Castro. Economic issues in Germany and Cuba allowed for Hitler and Castro to make policies and plans that appealed to the people and aimed to fix the economic issues that were beginning to cause restlessness within their countries. In Germany these issues were the weakness of the Weimar Republic, the Treaty of Versailles and the impact of the Great Depression, whereas in Cuba it can be amounted to the impact of widespread poverty, high unemployment rates, a reliance on a monoculture and the influence of the USA.
