Charles Darwin - Coggle Diagram
Charles Darwin
Developed different ideas
Expressed in his book "The Origin Of Species"
Ideas such as:
The individuals that have variations that make them best adapted to their habitat are the ones that have the best chance of surviving
The best-adapted organisms are therefore the ones that are most likely to breed and have offspring
Many organisms will not survive until adulthoo. They may be killed by predators, die of disease, or not be able to get enough to eat
The offspring will inherit some of the features of their parents
The organisms in a species are not all exactly the same as each other. They show variation
If this continues, generation after generation, then there could be a change in the species over time. Eventually, it coul change so much that it would be a different species
Being it´s main one "Natural Selection"
Followed different theories and ideas of diverse scientists such as:
Charles Lyelly and all his ideas
Expressed in the book "Principles Of Geology", published in 1830
Thomas Malthus and his idea that the population of humans in earth could not grow forever
Due to the amount of food he suggested will not be enough
Was always interested in nature and science
And therefore kept records of diverse species of both plants and animals
This would later help him to develop his ideas
Traveled around the world to prove his ideas that species could widely change over time
And finded evidence of this due to the variation of finches over the Galapagos Islands
Being able to understand that species could also change by the area they lived on
As he later explained that all pigeons shared a common ancestor but over time it splited into all the different variations
