Acute renal failure - Coggle Diagram
Acute renal failure
-
-
clinical findings
-
recent trauma, shock, surgery or GA suggests possibility of AIRF
-
-
-
-
treatment
-
fluid therapy for optimal renal perfusion, whilst avoiding overhydration
-
GA and surgery should be avoided, as animal cannot protect themselves from ongoing episodes of decreased renal perfusion
indwelling catheter for fluids and meds, preferably jugular to monitor central venous pressure
-
-
Pathophysiology
-
-
nephrotoxicants
NSAIDs
can result in renal ischaemia by blocking the renal production of vasodilatory prostaglandinsthat maintain renal blood flow during dehydration
