The Jubilee Riots
English speaking was mostly Protestant, French speaking people were mostly Catholic. Lots of tension between the two for a long time. In 1875 Catholics had a jubilee and wanted to celebrate. Protestants did not want them to. It let to a six hour fight. Issues with police.

The Guibord Affair
Guibord died and was not allowed to be buried in a Catholic cemetery. There was a big group ready to riot. Qeebec made its own law to state that the Catholic church could make its own rules for its own cemeteries.
