She acts as if the society is normal to her and has become part of her life when mentioning it to the reader for example, 'the wall", "scientists hanged', 'our only function is to breed'
She plays scrabble with the commander, this could be an act of defiance as women are not allowed to read or write.

During the later chapters she said, 'I am sorry, this is not how I wanted it to end'. This could be a reference to her story being directed to either family or friends.
This could be a diary and she could be writing to herself, similar to winston in 1984 where she used it to get her feelings out and to get out of the Giliad's control. Women are not allowed to write but she could be going against them.

Offred's Reliability
Offred in Giliad
She in compliant with the society and does not have any large acts of defiance. While she is narrating there is no real emotion behind her emotions, 'they wanted nowhere for people to tie ropes form'.
There is a wall where people are hanged and she does not show any shock about the people who died, '3 on the wall today'
She run errands in the Giliad such as, 'getting chicken and meat'.
-
-
She is a woman in the sexist society of Gilled which means that she is only allowed to know certain facts, a high profile man in the society such as the commander might know more perspective.
Her memories come and go and as she does not poses memories of how she got there, Giliad might be feeding her false information.
Many of her comments focus around Luke so her opinions might be more focused around him, 'one day it might be Luke up there'
