Medications
NKDA
Metoprolol 50 mg PO twice a day
Enoxaparin 60mg subcutaneously every 12 hours
Treatments
Encourage cough and deep breathing exercises
Knee high antiembolism stockings
Dry sterile dressing to incision site change every 8 hours
Complete blood count every morning
Incentive spirometry every hour while awake
Regular diet
Measure input & output of urine
Sequential compression devises (SCD's) while in bed
Take vital signs every 4 hours, including neurovascular checks
Bathroom privileges and ambulation with assistance
Complications
Pain is 8/10
Currently developing a pressure ulcer
Fall risk; score of 80 on Morse Fall Scale puts at high fall risk; weakness and fatigue while ambulating
Hypertension
Possible complications of healing of surgical site
Hemoglobin of 10.5 g/dL is slightly low; delay healing process of incision through lower blood supply to the area
Pain and reluctancy of movement during bathing and ambulation could delay healing and recovery times
Other Diagnoses
Pressure Ulcer; Impacts the problem because it causes unnecessary pain and healing time for patient that could have been avoided
Hypertension could indicate stress of patient both psychologically and on body
