thinking & writing exist on many level, ranging from simple & basic to complex and insightful
Good writing might have meant mastering the basics of Organization, Grammar & Spelling
While these are essential, you are expected to do more: to write with depth, insight, and analytical understanding
To achieve this level of sophistication in writing, you need to develop comparably advanced thinking skills
Intimate, interactive relationships among language, thinking and writing have been remarked on by many professional writers
One can develop writing abilities as one develop thinking abilities
to improve your writing abiliities, you need to write on a regular basis, integrating writing into your life as a vital and natural element
Thinking and Writing activities can be done in various ways, in-and out class, individually or in pairs and groups, in whatever format your instructor speciifies
She might ask you to record your responses in a special journal to be reviewed, or on sepaprate sheets of paper to be handed in, writing can be shared between classmates or used as a basis of discussion
Thinking & writing are active processes that all of us learn be engaging in them. By doing thinking-writing activities and writing project you will sharpen your ideas with other members of the class, expand your own thinking & theirs as each student has a wealth of experiences & insights to offer the class community
Becoming an effective writer enables you to represent the rich fabric of your experience with clarity & precision
As a vehicle for creating & communicating your ideas, writing can be thought of as a catalyst stimulating your personal & intellectual development
Since the writing process also enlarges your understanding of the world, becoming an effective writer is the heart of your college education
Reading, Writing & Thinking
College is a whole new world, not only are you expected to work more in your courses, you are also expected to work at at higher level: to write more analitically, to think more conceptually, & to read more critically than ever before
Reading, thinking & writing are closely connected, & through readings literate human beings get information to use or to react in their writing
On the conventional paper pages, magazines, & newspapers on the computer screen of e-mail or the Internet, we read other people's thoughts, reflect on those thoughts, & deal with them in a various ways when we write
There are three types of reading:1. Critical reading, 2. Analytical reading, 3. reading, writing,& thinking
Becoming a thoughtful writer
Thinking is a cognitive process one uses every waking moment to make sense of the world as you walk towards your goal, make informed decisions, analyze complex issues, & solve problems
In order to become
sophisticated
thinker one need to be an accomplished writer
Writing, with its power to represent our thoughts, feeling, & experiences symbolically, is the most important tool our thinking process has.
Working together, thinking & writing enable us to create & communicate meaning, & both processes exhibit the following qualities:

Thinking & writing can become organized process
Definitions for: Thinking is an active, purposeful, & cognitive process that we make use to make sense of our world. Writing is an active, purposeful process that uses a system of written symbols for thinking & communicating.
Thinking & writing are processes that develop with use over a lifetime. One can imrove their writing & thinking following these three steps:
Becoming aware of your thinking & writing processes
Carefully examining your thinking & writing abilities
Practicing your thinking & writing abilities
The ability to think very carefully about your thinking, examining the way that you make sense of the world is one of the satisfying aspects of being a mature, educated human being
Critical thinking is an organized cognitive process we use to carefully examine our thinking & the thinking of others in order to clarify & improve our understanding
Writing thoughtfully is thinking critically as we move through the process of writing
People are able to think critically & write thoughtfully because of their natural ability to reflect, that means you reflect on your thinking, doing & feeling.
By carefully reflecting on your thinking, you are able to see how this thinking operates, so you learn to think more effectively, & at the same time you reflect on your language use, particularly that way you write, enables you to improve & refine your writing abilities.
Thinking & writing creatively
Carefully examining our thinking & writing processes assumes that they have been generating ideas worth examining
Our ability to think creatively makes producing such ideas possible
When we think creatively, we discover ideas and connections among those ideas: that are illuminating, useful, often exciting, sometimes original & usually worthy elaboration
Thinking creatively is discovering & developing ideas that are unusual & worthy of further elaboration
Thinking cratively is integrally tied with thinking critically & writing thoughtfully. In other words, these three dimensions of thinking and language activities are tightly intervowen
Critical thinking & creative thinking work together to bring about effective thinking, which enables us to produce thoughtful writing, which gives form to our ideas & communicates these ideas to others
