Technology Options
I want to be able to poll my students during the presentation
Zoom
I believe there is a polling option
Poll Everywhere
ability to incorporate into a presentation and ask a variety of question types
Kahoot
Functions like a game. Great for review days, but may be a bit distracting in the midst of a lecture
WebEx
There is a polling option built in
Nearpod
Tips: can set up polls and interactive slides ahead of time
Mentimeter
Enter simple poll questions into presentations and students respond in real time. May be a good option for quick knowledge check.
I want my students to be able to upload content
Padlet

What are my options to share content with students?
Moodle
Upload files directly into Moodle
Tips: be aware of file size limits. May be easier to post a link as opposed to the file
Dropbox
can save a link and it won't take up the space on Moodle
Tips: get an institution dropbox account for free. Practically unlimited space
Youtube
Youtube

I have a video file, but I want to make it smaller so I can upload it.
Handbrake (free download)
https://handbrake.en.softonic.com/mac
Right click on file and "compress"
This is the easiest, but won't compress your files as much as handbrake
Online Video Converter and Quicktime
https://onlinevideoconverter.pro/
Allows you to convert a video from online into an .mp4, then you can edit in Quicktime to shorten the video and insert videos into PPT
Would you like to present a live lecture or an asynchronous lecture?
Asynchronous lecture
What do you want the viewer to see?
Presentation only
Do you want to be able to write on the slides?
Yes
Educreations
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-noAo_bOmMs
Pros: Great for a lecture you need to write things on, such as a math problem. Very easy to use and to edit.
Cons: Limited to 30 minutes, so you many need to upload a lecture in several parts. There is a free version, but in order to import PPT slides it has a cost.
No
Powerpoint
Biggest benefit is that it is free and we are familiar with PPT
Nearpod
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDfmsnq9Qg0&t=672s
Very user friendly, a bit more interactive than PPT
Webcam and presentation simultaneously
