Advice and guidance
Consultant Connect
Future provision of A&G
Referral Assesment service
launched Oct 19 in addition to E-Referral
Used national pool of consultants but can link with local consultants if needed
Learning
Immediacy was beneficial
Good to include local service
Uptake was patchy
governance, structure ease of use very good
need to look to develop a local solution with local consultants - Limitations is national consultants don't know local systems.
Could help with current waiting lists
Advice on alternative medication is helpful
ERS system now contains a referral assessment service which is an enhancement.
Cinapsis
Mainly used in Gloucester but Nation-wide
North Norfolk looking at this
Integrated with Emis and Systemone
Driven by GP's as opposed to Ereferrals which is secretary led.
Built around dermatology with photo capability
RISK
RISK - A local approach would be the best option, we acknowledge that, but unfortunately QEH were unable to provide A&G in a timely manner, often either not responding at all or 10++ days later. Whatever option we have, the response has to be timely and the service able to have capacity to deal with the demand.
Mitigation - N&W wide solution
URGENT TASKS
Side by side comparison of Consultant Connect / Cinapsis / Ereferral RAS as an options appraisal.
Implemented in three specialties at JPUH,
CHALLENGE - regarding all referrals to go via A&G. Why have a doctor?
