Abraham had no where to bury her, because he owns no land because he is an immigrant. So he asks Ephron if he can purchase land from him so he can bury her but Ephron wants to give it to him for free but Abraham insists on 400 pieces of silver.
he took his oldest servant Eliezer. he made him take an oath that he would get Abrahams's son Isaac a wife in Haran. Under no circumstance would Abraham let Isaac marry a Canaanite woman. Abraham told Eliezer that if the woman is unwilling to come back and marry Isaac then he is released from the oath.
