Confirmation inquiry: students are given the questions and the method they are going to use to find the answers. The teacher knows the result in advance.

- Higher expression capacity among students.
- Students have a higher participation in their learning
Disadvantages
- Students can face difficult obstacles to overcome.
- Lack of success with new students or new contents that need extra assistance
Guided Inquiry: students are given the questions but not the method. They need to design one that will fit better their necessities.
Advantages
- Higher responsibility and participation of students in the process.
- Promoting new strategies and procedures useful for school learning.
- Teacher can control the students' learning easily.
Disadvantages
- Students need to be motivated to participate in own method designing.
- Lack of assistance can harm the process if student is not ready.
Open Inquiry: students are the ones that design the questions and the method to find the answers for those questions.
Advantages
- Absolute independence for students.
- Learning personalising is easily calibrated.
- Highly recommendable in creative subjects.
Disadvantages
- Students need to have goals and ideas very clear.
