Reasons for the Growth & Development of Megacities
Rural to urban migration :no_entry:
Availability of necessary facilities, such as hospitals, schools etc
Better paying jobs
Lack of employment and overpopulation in rural areas
Example: Dhaka, Bangladesh
High Fertility Rate :fountain_pen:
Women from rural areas (poor women) continue having high birth rates in urban areas.
Increase in birth rate leads to increase in population size and changes the demographic strucutre of the city as there are more younger people.
Increased population leads to more taxes and therefore more investment can be done to further develop the city.i.e infrastructure can be improved.
Case study: Shenzen, China
No or less taxes
