Identity: Year 1 Stage 2
Rationale: The following unit of work is designed to educate students about their personal identity as well as others identity, with a focus on characteristics of identity. Through the PDHPE and English, NSW Syllabus students develop an understanding of similarities and differences between people identities and the importance of acknowledging inclusiveness and respect.

communicates with a range of people in informal and guided activities demonstrating interaction skills and considers how own communication is adjusted in different situations.
Activity 3: in pairs students identify something special about the other persons identity and share that with their partner. Change pairs multiple times.

Differentiation: Students are provided the opportunity to interact with many different peers. Interpersonal students strengths are explored through this activity
Indicators: students identify characteristics of others identity. Students communicates with peers demonstrating interaction skills.

Formative Assessments: Brainstorming, observing, questioning, mind maps,
class discussions, anecdotal notes and work samples
Culminating Assessment: Mind map - Students create a mindmap of their identity (activity 4). Students will then write how they can demonstrate inclusion and show respect towards all students thinking about the different characteristics and cultural identities and traditions explore during the 4 activities.
