The KEY elements of 'Mao Zedong Thought'/ the
adapted
version of communist
Acclimatized
Marxist beliefs:
The PEASANTS were IMPORTANT
Mao believed that
the peasant masses had the power to overthrow capitalism and create a socialist society.
The revolution should have TWO stages
The first revolution would incorporate elements of the bourgeoisie, meaning that, during that first stage private ownership would continue.
The second revolution would bring about the
collectivisation and nationalisation of property and economic resources.
MASS MOBILISATION and VOLUNTARYISM should be encouraged
The campaigns made should be mass lead campaigns,
campaigns that come from the people
and were not imposed onto them as
voluntary
support would benefit everyone.
The revolution should be CONTINUOUS
Revolution should not cease once a party achieved power but should be a
constant process of renewal.
This would avoid corruption.
SELF- CRITICISM and RECTIFICATION were IMPORTANT
The transformation of officials into self satisfied and elitist people should be avoided. For this,
regular criticisms and purges would be used.
RUTHLESS DETERMINATION
was needed
If everyone showed
total commitment
, change would be accomplished
Violence
was a
necessary element of revolution.
Mao Zedong was ALL- KNOWING and ALWAYS RIGHT
People could find the solution to any problem if they studied his though sufficiently.
Traditionally
accepted Marxist beliefs:
For progress to come,
the landowners and bourgeoisie had to be overthrown.
In other words, the masses oughted to have the power.
There should be a
collective ownership of the means of production
.
Socialist states
should
promote
a
worldwide communist revolution.
