IMPORTANCE AND USE OF MEASURES - one of the key ingredients for, and tools of, staffing organizations.
- Measures are methods or techniques for describing and assessing attributes that are of concern to us.
- These assessments are gathered through measurement operational definition of attribute:
i) choosing an attribute of concern
ii) developing operational definition of attribute
iii) constructing measure of attribute
iv) using measure to actually gauge the attribute

Definition - process of assigning numbers to objects to represent quantities of an attribute of the objects
QUALITY OF MEASURES

Validity Generalization - validation of predictors must occur in each specific situation. The situation-specific premise is based on the origins in findings from decades of previous research
Validity of Measures
Accuracy of Prediction - knowing something about the accuracy with which a test predicts future job success requires examining relationship between scores on test and scores on measure
Accuracy of Measurement - reliability refers to consistency among the scores on the test, accuracy of measurement goes beyond this
Staffing Metrics and Benchmarks - Many who work in staffing are likely more familiar with another type of metric, namely, benchmarking.
- Benchmarking is the process where organizations evaluate their practices.
