Human influences
Good and bad influences.
Coastal defences.
-
Sea walls.
-
Sea walls obstruct the environment as it can deflect the wave energy which makes the energy goes down to other bits of the coast which might not have coastal defences which would affect the coast there.

Types of rock
Sedimentary rocks.
Sandstone, limestone and shale. (If a rock has stone on the end it tends to be sedimentary).
-
These are formed when sediments get deposited on the bottom of oceans, seas or lakes. These sediments include eroded rocks and fossils.
-
Igneous rocks
-
-
Here are some igneous rocks: Pumice, Granite, Basalt and Gabbro.
Granite (intrusive rock) is used for making gravestones, statues and countertops.
-
Pumice (extrusive rock) is used in toothpaste, cosmetic products and cement.
Gabbro (intrusive rocks) is used for flooring, worktops, facing and monumental statues.
Metamorphic rocks
Marble, slate or schist.
Marble (formed from limestone) is used for fireplaces, sculptures, gravestones, work surfaces, chopping boards and ornaments.
Metamorphic rocks are resistant to weathering and erosion, they are very hard-wearing and have a "squashed" (foliated or banded) texture.
These are formed when rocks are exposed to lots of pressure and/or heat. Contact metamorphism is when rock minerals and textures are changed, due to magma. Regional metamorphism is a type of metamorphism where rock minerals and texture are changed by heat and pressure over a wider area or region.
