STRENTHS.

It values emotions, personal ideals and self-fulfilment.

CCT has been used widely in health, social work and industry.
Holistic approach meaning, it does not try and break down behaviours in simpler componets.
ROGERS
Rogers believed that people could only achieve self actualisation if they had a positive self regard.
POSITIVE SELF REGARD often forms when people feel that they are valued and respected without reservation by those around them.
The idea is that people can not achieve this if they do not receive unconditional love as they may believe that they are only loved if they meet certain conditions of worth.

It is biased on individual experience therefore, not possible to formulate general laws of behaviour.

WHAT IS IT?
The humanists approach believes that has their own unique way of perceiving and understanding the world. Therefore, the approach mains to understand people's subjectivity.
They believe that people are self-determining meaning, they have the free will to make their own choices about the way they think and act. These choices are not determined by biological factors.
It was developed in the early 1950's and was termed the 'third force' since it was aimed to replace the main two approaches.
MASLOW.
Maslow was one of the leading psychologists in this approach and he believed that humans are motivated by needs beyond those of basic biological survival.
Maslow's hierarchy of needs rangers
from basic needs to higher levels of self-actualisation such as, creativity and morality.

APPLICATIONS.
Client- centred therapy aims to increase client's self worth and decrease the incongruence between the self-concept and the ideal self.
This therapy is non-directive so the client is encouraged to discover their own solutions in a environment that provides unconditional positive regard.
Gestalt therapy - accepting who you are. It includes, dream analysis, role play and confrontation.
SELF- ACTUALISATION.
It is the belief that all people have a tendency
towards growth and the fulfilment of their potential. It is believed that they have a desire to become everything that that they are capable of.
