legal means that you will get arrested if you something wrong and non legal are rules where they are enforced by words and if not followed there would be punishment but not jail worthy like legal
Statutory law
it's made as a draft law called a bill and goes through parliament
like how killinig person was made in parliament

Senate
In the senate they do the same as the House of Resp. the introduce the bill andi debate on the main idea of the bill and vote in the 1st and 2nd reading
They have a public inquiry about the bill that is reported back to the Senate. then they'll consider the bill in detail including any changes
The then is read in final form and then the senate votes on it in the third reading. the then passed on to the governor general.
Crown/Governor General
The governor general gives royal accent on the bill with maybe the help of the crown.
The bill is then an act of parliament/ a law for australia
House of Resp.
there's a 3rd reading where they vote on the bill in it's final form and then passed through to the senate
Then they'll have a house committee where they would get a public inquiry. after that process is done they will consider the bill in detail including any changes
They'll have 1st and 2nd reading to introduced and then the house debates about the the idea of the bill
Why do we need laws?
To protect us and each other form harm
To protect our rights
So everyone is treated fairly
Common Law
By a judge
like if some commits a crime and there's no law that says what his punish ment is then the judge wouldo make it
Is a law that is ruled by a judge because there no law about that situation or close to it and then can be used by other judges
A precedent is when a judge uses another ruling from anther judge also known as common law

The person may be accused and then must turn up for a court find out if they are guilty or not
At the start of the court trial the defendant to plead guilty or not guilty if they plead not guilty the prosecution must show the fact and if proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt he will be punished. but if not found guilty the court must let the defendent
Serious crimes would be heard in front of jury. a jury is usually made up with 12 to 18 random people. the same thing happens when there a judge except the jury needs to unanimous decision if the defendant is guilty or not
Someone that is accused has a right to a fair trial
Define It
A group of law that is put in place to protect us from harm
indictment is more severely punished and simple offences are dealt quickly by police/judge because they are less serious
A guilty act is a crime was committed and guilty mind is when someone did it and it wasn't by accident
