Definition:
The James Bay Hydro Project was a project to build a dam to create electricity without polluting the air. It was under the control of the Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa. In order to build the dam, the Quebec Premier needed to make an agreement with the Cree aboriginal people because the dam was going into their space. They eventually made an agreement about the land and space of the dam but the Quebec Premier had to help fund the Cree people’s health and education funds. While the dam was being built the Quebec Premier wasn’t giving the Cree people their funds or anything from the agreement. Once the first part of the project was done Quebec wanted to start phase 2 but the Cree people didn’t let them because they wanted the terms from the past agreement to start phase 2.
