If the verb to be (am, is, are, was, were) or to have (have, has, had) in the form of Present Simple or Past Simple acts as a predicate in a sentence, then this verb is placed in the first place before the subject and appears as an auxiliary.

the structure of the question always remains unchanged: the interrogative word, the auxiliary word, the subject, the main verb. So, the most obvious difference between open-ended and closed-ended questions is the question word. But there is another noticeable difference - intonation.
