CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
-Controls the functions of the body, processes information from the outside and orders the response of the organism.

-Processes and distributes most of the sensible and motor information to the cortex, as well as conscious and emotional states.

-Also regulates the survival behaviour likefight, ingest and sex.

-Controls vital functions like digestion,
breathing, and the cardiovascular system.

BRAIN HEMISPHERES
-The cortex, or telencephalon, is divided in two hemispheres, left and right.
Left hemisphere
-“the rational” one, works through logic, houses the language and controls the right part of the body.
Right hemisphere
-More emotional, is related to time perception, musical and artistic execution and controls the left part of the body.
Parts of each hemisphere
TEMPORAL LOBE
-Receives sounds and olfactive impulses, controls speaking and memory.
PARIETAL LOBE
-Associated to touch, temperature, pressure and other somatic sensations.
FRONTAL LOBE
-Associated with “high” mental functions: thinking, planning, deciding. It also controls body actions.
