LEGO StoryStarter Kit
My students will be able to use LEGOs to create a real life version of a scene in a reading we're reading or for a story they have created in Twine or Book creator.
RI.1.7 Use the illustrations and details in a text to describe its key ideas.
Computer station
This station includes apps like Book Creator, Twine, and iMovie. This will be a center that promotes collaborative working. I want my students to be able to bounce ideas off of each other. They will be able to record skits, voiceovers, and create narrative stories.
RL.1.3 Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details.
Table-Top Green screen for puppet shows
This center allows for the students to work together to create a story and promotes improvisation. This gives students an opportunity to use what they created with the Model Magic.
RL.2.2 Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.
Model Magic
Model Magic will be used to create props for skits/presentations. This can also be used to tell a story.
CoSpaces
I want to use CoSpaces as a reading center where they can see and hear the story. I want the story to come alive in the virtual reality which also gives them some knowledge about 3D images.
RL.2.7 Use information gained from the illustrations and words in a print or digital text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot.
My goal for my students is to create a space where they can be themselves but also learn the importance of reading and writing and what better way to do that than to create their own stories?! They will be able to create whatever they want under the guidelines I have set for each assignment. Collaborative working will be promoted a lot during these labs but students will have the option to work individually.
