COMMUNICATION WITH PUPILS - Nelson and Sundt (1993) explained how understandings pupils' minds can be understood more clearly especially in relation to the multi-use of classroom settings. This approach to research is likely to involve teachers and pupils in investigating their own classroom environments, and in discussing their perceptions and feelings in their own language (Tobin, 1997). It will lead to increasing understanding between teachers and pupils about their individual preferences and needs, but it need not lead to increasing similarity of opinion, given that learning environments should not be too 'comfortable' for pupils, and therefore unstimulating (Joyce & Weil, 1996).
