PROFILE SUBMISSION & WORK PERMIT APPLICATION

  1. Submit your profile and choose the IEC pools you want to be in.

Types of pools

  1. If you receive an invitation to apply via your account, you’ll have 10 days to start your application
  1. Once you start your work permit application, you have 20 days to complete and submit it, and pay the appropriate fee.
  1. During that 20-day period, your employer needs to pay the Can$230 employer compliance fee through the Employer Portal.
  1. Once the fee is paid, your employer should send you an employment number to apply for your work permit.
  1. Upload all supporting documents, including police and medical exam certificates, if applicable.*
  1. Pay your participation fee of Can$153 with a credit card online through your IRCC account. Other fees may include a Can$85 biometrics fee and Can$100 Working Holiday open work permit holder fee, if applicable.

*If you do not have the supporting documents, you can upload proof that you have applied to undertake a medical exam and/or that you have sent a police certificate request.

BIOMETRICS

  1. BIOMETRICS - If required, you will be sent a biometrics instruction letter via your IRCC account after you submit your application. You will have 30 days upon receipt of the instruction letter to submit your biometrics at a Visa Application Centre. For more information, visit canada.ca/biometrics.

IEC WORK PERMIT ASSESSMENT

  1. The work permit application assessment may take up to 56 days. We may ask you to provide additional documents
  1. This is your last chance to withdraw from IEC and obtain refunds (participation fee, open work permit holder fee, employer compliance fee).
  1. IRCC will send a Port of Entry Letter to your account. Bring this letter with you to Canada.

TIME TO PACK & GO

Original, valid passport and a photocopy of the biodata (photo) page. Include all cancelled
or expired passports, if applicable. Your passport should be valid for the duration of work in Canada, as the validity of a work
permit cannot exceed the validity of the passport.

Proof of Education: Certificate, Diploma or Degrees including mark sheets;

Proof of work experience

Copies of appointment letters and relieving letters from your current and previous employers

copies of salary slips

copies of Form 16

Bank statements

Letters of reference must outline the duration and specific nature of your employment, including your exact duties on the job.

Proof of personal funds

including income tax returns for the past two years, bank statements or books from the past three months. Property documents or other proof of income or investments.

Application for

If you have answered “yes” to any of the background information questions on the
application form, provide a completed and signed Schedule 1 form and include it with your application.

Copies of marriage certificate

For Live - In Caregivers

Proof of caregiver training course and proof of one year experience related to the work of a caregiver. If providing proof of caregiver training course, also provide evidence that the training was offered as part of a formal education program at an educational institution accredited by the appropriate local education authorities.

Live–in Caregiver Program (LCP) contract

Applicant’s educational diplomas, school certificates or transcripts listing the courses taken.

Proof of English or French language proficiency

Proof of financial ability of your employer to hire a full time caregiver:

Latest Notice of Assessment (NOA) of Canadian employer and spouse. Note that affidavits are not acceptable.

Employer’s family composition (number of individuals in the employer’s household).

*Note: Some hosts or sponsors may prefer not to provide their personal information directly to the applicant for submission to the Visa Office. In this case, please enclose a note to this effect. Please be advised that this may lead to slower processing in some cases.
