Diagnostic
Define: Used to determine students level of understanding prior to teaching a unit . This helps guide teachers instruction and gives them more information about the misconceptions students will be going into the unit with.

Interim/benchmark
Define: A fixed assessment that is used to evaluate students learning in comparison to specific grade-level standards and learning goals.

Formative
Define: way to gather evidence of student learning and understanding of a topic or lesson that provides feedback for teachers to use for adjusting instruction. These are low stake assessments so they have little to no grade value.

Define: An assessment that requires students to create something or preform a task rather than doing a typical question and answer test.
