Formative
Definition: The process of gathering information about a student's understanding about a particular topic so you can give them feedback and if necessary adjust your instruction so that the student gets the most out of their learning.
Quickwrite: Students will write a short paragraph explaining what they have learned in the lesson or the unit so far.
Google Form Differentiated Questionnaire: Students will answer questions over a topic and based on their answers they will be either taken to the next question or they will be taken to a video to watch to relearn what was covered.
Interim/ Benchmark
Definition: Tests/assessments to see where a student is in their learning and how they compare with where they should be.
STAAR: Students take a standardized test that every student in the state of Texas who attends public school is required to take.

Diagnostic
Definition: A form of pre-assessment that teachers use to help determine a students strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, skills and guides lessons and curriculum planning.

Intervention: Based on a students work the teacher may ask for the student to come in to class during planned intervention.
Performance
Definition: Instead of having the student take a test to show what they know, they perform a task or a series of tasks to show their comprehension of a topic.
Debate: Students chose a side of an argument and prepare statements in order to argue their side. They may not necessarily agree with the side, but it gives them a chance to research and view another sides opinion.
Science Fair: Students think up a topic and research and create an exhibit to show off what they learned and the scientific process they went through when they were working.
