Assessment
Benchmark
Definition: An assessment periodically throughout a school year to establish baseline achievement data and measure progress toward a standard or set of academic standards and goals.
BAS Kit: This is an assessment done by the teacher to monitor the students and see where they are in terms of reading level
Letter Sound Recognition This is an assessment we do frequently throughout the year to ensure students can connect and recognize each letter and the sound they make.
Performance
Definition: A form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.
Retelling a story by acting it out: The students will hear or read a story and then retell the story in the form of acting it out.
SeeSaw Activities: The students will complete different SeeSaw activities where they will complete and turn in different electronic assignments where they will answer questions then record themselves.
Diagnostic
Definition: A pre-assessment used to determine students' individual strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction.

The Kindergarten Beginner Word Test: This is a pre assessment where students will show their knowledge by reading basic words that will be learned throughout the school year

Summative
Definition: An assessment used to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark. This assessment is typically high stakes and worth more to the grade.
Writing A Story Project: Students will be told they must write and illustrate a story that involves both a problem and a solution using a story board and then creating a book for the classroom.
Report Card Assessment:Because we do not give actually grades in kindergarten, this is our most high stake assessment, because we, as the teacher, are marking down different things the student does throughout the 9 weeks.
Formative
Definition: An in-process evaluation teachers can use to check a student's comprehension, learning needs, and academic progress during a lesson, unit, or course. These type of assessments are low stake.
Think Pair Share: Students will be asked a question, then they will think independently, students will then take turns telling their partner their thoughts, then they will share their ideas with the class.
Thumbs Up/Down: Students will put their heads down, to not feel swayed by peers responses, then give a thumbs up or thumbs down depending on how confident they feel about the subject they learned about.
