Physical Properties
A characteristic of a substance that can be observed and measured without changing the identity of the substance.
Melting Point- the temperature at which something changes from a solid to liquid
Density- the amount of mass in a given volume
Electrical Conductivity- how well a n electric current can move through a substance
Thermal Conductivity- the rate at which a substance transfers heat
Solubility- the ability of a substance to dissolve in another substance
Malleability- the ability of a substance to be rolled or pounded into various shapes.
Luster- the shine of metals
Magnetic Attraction- attracts an object at a distance
Boiling Point- The point at which something boils
Both
They both observe and measure a substance
Help to determine what a substance is
Chemical Properties
Measures and observes a substance by changing it into a new substance
Reactivity- Rusting
Flammability- Seeing if something burns
Ripening- If a fruit changes/sweetens over time
