NORTH REGION IN HUILA PT3
VILLAVIEJA
It is located in the north of the department, in the upper part of the Magdalena river valley.
Its territorial extension is 578 km², its height is 430 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 28-31ºC. It has a population of 7,309 inhabitants.
Its economy is based on agricultural activity, predominantly the agricultural sector and ecotourism, as a contemplative, investigative and scientific tourism modality, which takes into account the nature of the places visited and their landscape, ethnological and anthropological quality.
YAGUARA
It lies between the valleys of the Yaguará River and the Magdalena River, on the eastern slope of the central mountain range.
Its territorial extension is 329 km², its height is 560 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 25 ºC.5 And it has a population of 9,410 inhabitants
The productive sector of the municipality is made up of agriculture, livestock, fish farming, ecotourism, the oil industry and the export of electrical energy thanks to the hydroelectric plant that represent millions in royalties
SANTA MARIA
Its territorial extension is 378 km², its height is 1320 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 20ºC.5 And it has a population of 11,744 inhabitants
Its economy is based on the agricultural sector, highlighting the production of coffee, beans and fruit trees. In addition, the extraction and mining commercialization of limestone, gravel, sand and the manufacture of bricks and derivatives are important lines for the productive sector of the municipality.
It lies near the central mountain range. It includes the upper basin of the Baché river and a sector of the upper Saldaña river basin; draining its waters to the Magdalena River.
TELLO
Its territorial extension is 589 km², its altitude is 575 meters above sea level and its climate is warm with an average temperature of 26ºC.3 And it has a population of 14,536 inhabitants
It is characterized by its extensive plain between the Magdalena River and the foot of the eastern mountain range up to its peaks, with more than 3000 meters above sea level, watered by the waters of the Fortalecillas and Villavieja rivers.
Its economy is based on agricultural production and livestock activity. Fruits such as grapes, which register the highest levels of quality, bananas from which 91% of the total is produced in the department, complement its economy, which is considered the basis of the development of the region.
TERUEL
It is characterized by being a mountainous territory for the most part, thanks to the fact that it belongs to the central mountain range, and is located on the left bank of the Magdalena River in the department of Huila and is crossed by the Central mountain range.
