PRE-ASSESSMENT We will start class with a formative assessment (usually in the form of a Kahoot Quiz on the subject we will be addressing in class**
FIRST GROUP - ABOVE AVERAGE: 5 Students who answered most, and the most difficult questions correctly
-
SECOND GROUP - AVERAGE: 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic, but need to develop their thinking skills
DIFFERENTIATION STRATEGIES: This group will be working through a worksheet and some cognitive activities that require a deeper look at the novella:
OPTION 1) They will create a mind map of all the characters in the novel and their key thematic roles to help them.
OPTION 3) We will have an activity for them to translate the text into a modern-day conversation (i.e. a chat over social media or a Meme or a cellphone texted conversation or a dialogue using modern slang.
OPTION 2) They will read the extract on the worksheet and fill in a question and answer table breaking down specific language devices. It features many open-ended 'Why' questions to challenge their cognitive skills.
