John Wycliffe -died 1384
-was a professor at the University of Oxford
-important predecessor to Protestantism
-questioned the privileged status of the clergy
-advocated translation of the Bible into the common vernacular
-"Wylcliffe's Bible" is a translation directly from Vulgate into Middle English from anywhere 1382-1395
Jan Hus -died July 1415(burned at the stake) -Czech theologian -spoke against the churches
-1406 helped publish a Czech translation of the bible -called in front of the holy roman emperor for his doctrine
-arrested and condemned to be burned
Desiderius Erasmus- authored the SUPER INFLUENTIAL in Praise of Folly(1509), -
