Focused areas in industrial relations: 1) The relationships between employers and trade unions. 2) The framework provided by the employment law. 3) Disciplinary procedures and termination of the employment contract.
Industrial relations was founded by John R. Commons when he created the first academic industrial relations program at the University of Wisconsin in 1920

It is made up of the following two terms such as ‘Industry‘ can be viewed as an economic activity (i.e., manufacturing, producing or processing of goods or services) which is performed by a group of individuals when the ‘Relations‘ here refers to the connection and communication which pertains between the employer and the employees within a workplace.
The relationship between workers and their employers within the work environment. Besides that, industrial relations is also known as employee, labor, or employment relations.
WHY important :question:
.2) Trade union leaders –to enable them to perform their roles effectively in protecting workers from greedy employers.
Students – they are future workers, trade unionists, managers, lawyers, officers/executives, and employers
5) Officers and executives in human resource and industrial relations departments – to carry out their job responsibilities particularly in improving their human skills in order to administer the system wisely
4) Lawyers – to ensure their competence in giving advice to their clients, in representing employers/unions, and in drafting legally enforceable employment contracts
3) Managers – to ensure their effectiveness in dealing with a workforce, in improving productivity and increasing profitability of the organization.
1)Workers –to make them know their rights and obligations under the employment laws, aware of the benefits can be gained or risks might be faced by joining a trade union, and develop a healthy attitude towards workplace
