Manage your accounting and taxes
How realistic is the goal, based on other constraints, such as financial factors?
You have to consider valuable things about freelancing
Not every month is the same. Sometimes you are overwhelmed with amount of work to do, sometimes nobody wants to hire you. You have to consider to have savings that cover your living for at least a month.
Always stand up for yourself and know the difference between work and exploitation. To avoid being a slave, include every single detail about your job in the contract. If you notice that the worker tries to cheat you, stop the contact immediately.
Always look for new clients (every Sunday for instance). It is all about having a flow of clients. Remember that you can also find a job offline.
Stay disciplined and set a schedule.
Get the best accountant you can to manage your taxes and business expenses.
Set a certain place for work
Remember that as a freelancer, nothing is certain. You can lose all of your clients right away. Get used to it.
Build your Personal Brand online by attending events
Consider legal factors like agreements, privacy policy etc.
Learn to say no to unrealistic expectations
You have to set yourself up as self-employed guy in the first place
Create a spreadsheet to track the cash flow
Reasonable
Time-bounded
