Does the student lack confidence?

Positive self talks to encourage students
Find out what they are good at and help them to gain confidence
Break down the struggling area into smaller parts (Differentiated Learning)

Does the student continuously produce low grades?
Yes
Differentiate learning: Allow students to have additional test time or time for assignments
Get parents involved weekly (Student notebooks where parents sign that their child completed assignments and etc)
Try to identify the areas the student is struggling in. Earlier identification can increase the chances of improvement
Learning disabilities can be solved with early intervention, assistive technology, preventative strategies and etc.
Create an IEP for the student
Screening helps identify problems or delays during child development

Does the student show resistance to school work?
Yes
Give encouragement to students
Teach perseverance to students. No matter how difficult a task there's always a way to complete it
Use direct instruction
Tackle one task or concept at a time
Write down directions for students. Some students can hear the instructions and remember but struggling students may need to be visually reminded so they can stay on task

Does the student repeat phrases such as: "I don't like (Any subject)" or "School is boring"

Talk with student to find out why they feel this way. Find ways to make their leaning experience more enjoyable
Create small measurable goals for the student
