Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are used to assess student learning to get feedback to use for planning, modifying and adjusting instruction, and are generally evaluated at little to no grade value.

Definition: A performance assessment is an assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than take a standard test or answering questions.
Oral Interviews: Students will demonstrate their understanding of a topic or concept through oral explanation. Teachers may ask questions in an interview type fashion or have the students work in partners where one asks questions and the other provides the oral explanation.
Role Play / Puppet Show: Students either act out or use puppets to demonstrate a time in history or a particular topic being discussed in the class.
Diagnostic
Definition: A diagnostic assessment is a form of pre-assessment where teachers can evaluate students' understanding, knowledge/skills, and any misconceptions that may already exist.
