Sources
You can find protein in food sources such as: eggs, soya, meats (these are all examples of HBV sources)
You can also find protein in nuts, grains, beans (these are examples of LBV sources)
Protein Complementation
This is when two LBV foods, which are eaten in the same meal, combine non-essential amino acids which create HBV foods
Examples of this would be: beans on toast, hummus and pitta and dhal and chapatis
Protein alternatives
These are foods for people who cannot eat the foods which supply you with the essential amino acids or foods which are HBV (vegans, vegetarians)
Examples of this is: Soy, Quorn (these are the only two plant based HBV foods), Beans. Bread vegetables, lentils, nuts, tofu, spinach
Protein alternatives can also create benefits such as: they can be stored for longer, they are lower in cost, suitable for vegetarians or vegans, good source of fibre, they can be prepared or consumed in any way and they can be a more economical way of bulking a recipe up
