If we end up having a hut I could do the same thing are houses do I could build an eves drop that brings the water into buckets and collect water that way
Use a tarp and put a whole in the middle cover a hole with it then but a bucket under the whole on the tarp whole
Put a bucket in a hole and build a fence around it so no animlas get in it and it will collect the water that goes straight into the water

you could take the dirty water and run it through a shirt or any piece of clothing a couple of times then make a fire and try to burn off the rest of the harmful.
if you ended up in a situation where you couldn't make a fire you could try making a filter, you can make a filter by putting sand and small rocks in layers then running the dirty water through those layers to take all the dirt out u would need a piece of cloth a bottle sand and small rocks. you would put the cloth at the bottom then do repeating layers of sand and rocks
you can purify water with plants you can do that by putting plants and fruit peels such as bananas and coconuts into the water then letting it sit for a little bit. after letting it sit the water should be safe to drink.
