Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that takes place inside a plant, producing food for the plant to survive.
Water is a compound of two elements: hydrogen and oxygen. Water has many special properties. Water is vital to all plant and animal life on Earth.
Solids, liquids and gases are called the three states of matter.
-
Gases do not have a fixed shape. They spread out and change their shape and volume to fill up whatever container they are in.
Respiration is a chemical reaction that happens in all living cells, including plant cells and animal cells. We also use for the proccesses in the body.
Glucose and oxygen react together in cells to produce carbon dioxide and water and releases energy. The reaction is called aerobic respiration because oxygen from the air is needed for it to work.
Carbon dioxide, water and light are all needed for photosynthesis to take place.

Plant cells are unique in that they have a large central vacuole. A vacuole is a small sphere of plasma membrane within the cell that can contain fluid, ions, and other molecules.
-
-
Xylem cells transport mostly water and a few nutrients throughout a plant, from the roots to the stem and leaves.
Chloroplasts are specialized organelles found only in plants and some types of algae. These organelles carry out the process of photosynthesis, which turns water, carbon dioxide, and light energy into nutrients from which the plant can obtain energy.

In a plug, the blue neutral wire goes to the left, the brown live wire to the right and the green and yellow striped earth wire to the top. The fuse fits next to the live wire.
Transformers are used to change voltages and currents in transmission lines. A transformer is formed from two coils of wire around a magnetic core. The number of coils determines whether the transformers will step-up or step-down the voltage.
-
As an electric current flows through the thick cables held up by the pylons, they will get hotter and dissipate energy to the surroundings.
Pathogens are disease-causing viruses, bacteria, fungi or protists, which can infect animals and plants. Humans have an immune system, which can defend them from pathogens.

Electric circuits can be series or parallel. An ammeter measures current and a voltmeter measures a potential difference. Some materials have low resistance and are conductors; others are insulators.
-
In parallel circuits, electrical components are connected alongside one another, forming extra loops.
In a parallel circuit a electron will not pass through every component on its way round the circuit. If one of the bulbs is broken then current will still be able to flow round the circuit through the other loop. If one bulb goes out, the other will stay on.
