The thickness of the artistic sea ice have expanded rapidly over the last several year. An thats because of the global climate change. Global warming is affecting sea ice glaciers and continental ice sheets. Overall the extent and also thickness of actic sea ice have increased a lot.

Global Temperature Rise (Roberto and Sophia)
The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 2.05 degrees Fahrenheit since the late 19th century. Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019. Global sea level rose about 8 inches (20 centimeters) in the last century. Satellite observations show that the amount of snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere has decreased over the past five decades. the increase of temperature occurred because of large increase of carbon m dioxide in our planet and man-made occurrences, for about 40 years we are already having the hottest years on record. since 2014 we had 6 of the hottest years with 2016 being the hottest year to every me on record.

Branca, Extreme Events
Extreme weather or extreme climate events includes unexpected, unusual, severe, or unseasonal weather. The number of record high-temperature events in the United States has been increasing, while the number of record low-temperature events has been decreasing, since 1950. The U.S. has also witnessed increasing numbers of intense rainfall events. During the summer the US experiences nighttime thunderstorms unlike anywhere else in the country. These large-scale storms account for more than 40 percent of annual rainfall in some areas. They can bring much-needed rain to farms but they also can destroy homes, files and lives.
From the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30%. This is due to the greater amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This is later absorbed into the ocean and has absorbed between 20% and 30% of total anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions(7.2 to 10.8 billion metric tons per year).
sunlight reaches the earth -> energy is reflected back to space -> most of the heat is absorbed by the greenhouse gases, and reflected causing it to warm the earth up.
WHAT IS IT? solar irradiance is the output of light energy from sun, measured from earth. the solar spectral irradiance is a measure of the brightness of the entire sun at a wave length of light
- ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica have decreased in mass
- Greenland has lost about 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019
- Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice
AFFECTS GLOBAL WARMING? the solar irradiance maintained very stabilised in the past few years, and it was already affirmed that the global warming can not be explained by changes in energy from the sun.
The chemistry of ocean water is changing due to the mass amount of CO2. This makes the water more acidic, which causes life underneath the ocean to die, or to endure serious problems. To help with this, an organization has been formed in which scientist work on measuring the acidity in different places and find solutions to these problems.
CAUSES: here are some conditions that can affect the amount of radiation that reaches the surface of planet earth, at any given location
- lattitude
- terrain
- season
- time of day
- atmospherical conditions (clouds, dust, water vapor)
this graph shows the volume of ice in Antartica and how it has been decreasing throughout the years
- Some gases inside the atmosphere block the heat
- The atmosphere does not correspond to physical or chemical changes in temperature.
- The changes in temperature is the force of climate change
- Half the sunlight which passes through the earth atmosphere, also goes through clouds, air and finally to the surface
- Water vapor increases the earth atmosphere temperature
- An important component of the atmosphere: Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Burning fossil fuels increases the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere
:
GHG, also known as Greenhouse gases, is a gas that provides to the greenhouse effect by engaging infrared radiation. Primary gases in Earth's atmosphere in H20 (water vapor) and CO2 (Carbon Dioxide). It is the leading cause of global warming and is mainly produced by natural methods like respiration and burning fossil fuels.
These burning fossil fuels create enormous amounts of CO2, which is greenhouse gases. Greenhouse Gases such as chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide, will accompany CO2, changing the structure of the atmosphere and are continuing to the greenhouse effect
This is mostly caused when the Atmosphere traps the heat from earth to space.
