The Story Elements "The Lion King"
Rising events
Is the section of the plot leading up to the climax, in which the tension stemming from the story's central conflict grows through successive plot developments.
Example: Scar allows Mufasa to fall to his death where Simba watches helplessly.
Characters
A person, an aniamal, one element.
Example: Mufasa, Simba, Scar, Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa
Plot
Series of event and character actions that relate to the central conflict.
Example: Nala finds Simba and explains why he needs to come home.
Falling events
What happens after the climax near the end of story.
Example:The rain comes and the kingdom becomes as it used to be.
Conflict
Struggle between two people in a story, the main character is usually on one side of central conflict.
Example: Simba vs. Himself - Simba has to find a way to get over his father's death and stand up to Scar to live out his destiny.
Setting
Time and place in which a story happens, use descriptions of land scape, scene, buildings, seasons or weather to provide a sense of setting.
Example: African Savanna or Pride Rock
Climax
The tuning point on a story when te problem is stalled.
Example: Scar admits he killed Mufasa. Simba and Scar start to fight.
Resolution
The problem is resolved.
Example: Simba and Nala present their child to the kingdom
Narration
A narrative is a literary work that involves the retelling of a story. To develop an effective narrative essay, paper, poem or book, you need to include several common narrative elements. These elements include a main theme of the story, characters, a plot and the setting.
Example: Mufasa stands on Pride Rock and Rafiki holds up Simba. All of the animals celebrate.
Theme
Central idea or belief in a short story.
Example: Face your problems. Simba tries to run from his problems but realizes nothing can improve until he faces them.
