you cold of got very sick from the water that you drink being mixed with things like leaves and dead animals
toilets
in the toilets your waste would not go to a swage it would just go in the the river witch is were you drank from
the toilets were not like todays toilets as they were just a hole in the floor with no flush
the grate stink
this was caused by all of the human waste that was being dumped into the river tems, that caused the river to slop flowing and causes a bad bad smell that you could smell any were in London
houses
houses did not have toilets they were just one room were that room was your living room your kitchen and dining room you would have to pay tax for windows so most of the time they were just holes or they were bricked up
The Great Stink was in central London in July and August 1858. During hot weather the smell of untreated faeces was overpowering it was caused by untreated human waste in the River Thames, and on its banks. An ageing and inadequate sewer system emptied directly into the Thames.
toiles were called privy and the romans came up with the term don't grab they wrong end of the stick because they used to wipe with a stick and as a joke they would put the stick back so that the stick was placed the wrong way down so that they would grab the bad end
