Global temperature rise
There are 4 main greenhouse gases that cause global warming
Water vapor increases as the earth's atmosphere warms, but so does the possibility of clouds and humidity. It acts as a feedback (gases that respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature)
More carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
The overall global temperature has been increasing due to human carbon emissions, the global temperature has increased about 1.4 Celsius in the last couple of years
Carbon dioxide is released through natural processes such as respiration and volcano eruptions and through human activities such as deforestation, land use changes and burning fossil fuels. This is the most important long-lived ''forcing'' of climate change. It first was a minor component of the atmosphere, but humans increased its use by 47% after the industrial revolution.
Methane is produced both through natural sources and through human activities. Is a far more active greenhouse gas than CO2, but much less abundant in the atmosphere
There are increased levels of carbon in the planets atmosphere, it is about double the amount that the planet previously had, this is due to factories, cars, and other manmade devices that produce carbon dioxide
Nitrous oxide: a powerful greenhouse gas produced by soil cultivation practices, especially the use of commercial and organic fertilizers, fossil fuel combustion, nitric acid production and biomass burning.
Sea levels rising
After sunlight reaches the earth, part of it reflects back to space while part of it is re radiated into heat and the greenhouse gases (water vapor H2O / Nitrous oxide N2O / Methane CH4 / Carbon dioxide CO2) block this heat from escaping. This causes the heat to reflect in all directions, warming the earth. Other natural long living gases do not have the same effect.
The global sea level rose about 20 cm in the last century, this is because of the global temperature increase and the ice caps melting the rising of the sea levels is rising each year due to human actions
The clearing of land for agriculture, industry, and a few other human activities has increased concentrations of greenhouse gases
More droughts and heat waves
There is more then 95% certainty that human activities have warmed the earth in the past 50 years. Also, human activities increased the proportions of greenhouse gases, affecting even more the temperature.
The amount of heat waves and droughts are increasing in the southwest, this is causing the soil to be less wet and can affect farms and food production
The main solution is about decreasing human activities that might influence on the increase of global warming, or on the increase of these gases. Since many of the activities influence the climate change, beaware of some activities that could be decreased or removed from humans routine to decrease the risk of global warming increase.
Cities will flood
Some cities may be directly affected because of the sea levels rising, some may even be flooded or submerged due to their close proximity to the sea, a big example of this is New York
Burning fossil fuels/ burning coal, oil and gas produce carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide
Cutting down rainforests (the trees breathe in CO2 and exhale oxygen, decreasing the amount of CO2 in the air. Cutting down these trees affects this process).
Increasing livestock farming is bad and increases methane gas amounts, as cows and sheep produce large amounts of methane when digesting their food
Ice-free ocean
There is research stating that by 2050 the ocean will have little to no ice in it, this is due to the fact that the ice caps are melting and that the global temperature is rising.
Using fertilizers that include nitrogen produce nitrous oxide emissions
Adaptation
There is a need for adaptation in the world around us at this moment. Global warming cannot be reversed, there is no way we can remove what was already made, but, a solution is adapting quickly to the world and the pollution we live in and avoid creating more. The process of adaptation takes time, but includes decreasing human activity (which is a process to avoid creating more global warming), taking care of the environment and having the disposition of taking care of the world.
Glacial Retreat
Small actions can help prevent glacial retreat, such as saving power and water, glacial retreat can affect the lives of millions of people because their main source of drinking water is meltwater rivers
Warming Oceans
Taking care of the environment: adapt to the new rules that are being created and take care of the environment as a whole so it isn't created more! Don't cut down rainforests, dont burn fossil fuels and dont increase livestock farming. Try using more public transportation for example
Since the planets overall temperature is increasing, the ocean has been absorbing a lot of this heat causing it to get about 0.66 degrees warmer in the top 100 meters than some decades ago
Adapt: understand that we have a lot of global warming and live with it. Create new functions and adapt so that the water level doesn't impact the land (as melting glaciers is happening frequently), adapt to ocean acidification (evidence that global warming exists), adapt to the idea that hazards and other extreme events may happen and prepare yourself for it, have enough clothes for the hot season and make sure you hydrate yourself on this extreme hotness. Check the evidence and effects of climate change and make you sure can adapt to them/prepare yourself for these to happen.
Changes in precipitation patterns
The northern parts of the world will have increased precipitation patterns, while the southern parts will have decreased 25%, this will occur even in regions where precipitation is already low such as the southwest
Ocean will rise about 1-4 feet
It is predicted that by 2100 the sea level will have risen 1-4 feet, this is because of the melting of the ice sheets and glaciers, these are melting because of the increasing temperature of our world.
I used this source to find solutions because on these 2 sources from Mr Hall had no information for solution. It is a valid souce!
